Frequently asked questions

Don't let questions stand in the way of getting the care you deserve.

I am successful at work, so why do I feel so empty and exhausted?

You may feel empty and exhausted despite your success because you have likely become very good at functioning at the expense of feeling. I specialize in helping high-achieving professionals navigate the hidden cost of always being "on."

Often, high-functioning anxiety or perfectionism drives you to perform but leaves you feeling depleted, numb, or emotionally disconnected inside. I help you maintain your capability while reconnecting with your purpose, so you can stop just surviving your success and start enjoying it.

Do I need trauma therapy if I haven't had a single "big" catastrophic event?

Yes, you may benefit from trauma therapy even without a single catastrophic event, because trauma is not defined by the event itself, but by how your nervous system absorbed it. Many of my clients experience complex trauma or accumulated stress—years of self-worth injuries, relational strain, or seasons where you couldn't fully exhale.

If you deal with intense anxiety, harsh self-criticism, or trouble sustaining relationships, your body may be holding onto unresolved patterns. I use EMDR and attachment-focused work to help you process these layered experiences so they stop controlling your present.

Will couples therapy just turn into another fight where I get blamed?

No, couples therapy will not turn into another fight where you get blamed. My role is to de-escalate conflict, not fuel it. I view the relationship as my client, meaning I do not take sides between partners.

In our sessions, we slow the conversation down to track the cycle of disconnection in real-time. Instead of focusing on "who is wrong," we look at the protection mechanisms (like shutting down or getting defensive) that keep you stuck. This structure creates emotional safety, allowing you to move from blame to understanding and repair.

Do you accept insurance for therapy sessions?

I do not accept insurance directly as an in-network provider, but I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your carrier for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Remaining out-of-network allows me to offer you the highest level of privacy and flexible, personalized care without the diagnostic requirements or session limits often imposed by insurance companies.

Many clients with PPO plans find they have significant out-of-network benefits. I recommend contacting your provider to ask about your specific coverage for "outpatient mental health services." I am happy to walk you through this process and help you understand your benefits during our initial consultation.

Where is Willow & Stone Counseling located?

For those outside the DFW area or with demanding schedules, I provide secure telehealth therapy to clients residing anywhere in the State of Texas. Whether virtual or in-person, my goal is to provide a steady, consistent space for your healing.
